Majority of 4K Gamers Have 16GB or Higher Video Memory: TechPowerUp Poll

FSR is kind of interesting for my old notebook with 980M and my desktop with a 1080 Ti. But the old approach of just reducing resolution works too. I suppose the TPU results represent a demographic with recent GPUs. I am running a 3080 12GB in the main PC (used mostly for VR).

ASUS Readies ROG Ally X with Larger Storage and Battery, Fixed microSD Slot

I noticed at a local Best Buy they had about 10 of these open box. I think I saw the microSD card problems appear in customer reviews on launch week but people keep buying them I guess. This developing premium handheld market is kind of interesting to see. The el cheapo Chinese handheld...

Arkane Austin and Redfall: what happened?

Redfall was very cheap on Epic back during their holiday sale. I played a few hours of it. I think it's alright. It's kind of an east coast port town borderlands loot shooter experience I guess. With a fruity Prey / Deathloop / Dishonored motif going on. It's unfortunate to hear about...

Qualcomm Continues to Disrupt the PC Industry with the Addition of Snapdragon X Plus Platform

I think their mobile objectives are at odds with whatever this PC push is supposed to be. Trying to impress compared to the PC incumbents would take some massive investment. Adreno was built by ATI guys. They reorganized the letters in Radeon. I wonder if any of them are still over there.

    Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 EVO

Looks like a nice upgrade from the SLK 800! :D

LogoFAIL Vulnerability Affects Almost Every PC Running Windows and Linux

I thought Secure Boot was cracked like 10 years ago. Which actually would be not long after it first appeared lol. We better just go back to the old school BIOS. Just had that sketchy boot sector virus protection that you always left off.

NVIDIA Cancels GeForce RTX 4090 Ti, Next-Gen Flagship to Feature 512-bit Memory Bus

I seem to remember rumors of an even bigger Navi product than Navi 31, but they apparently decided to not bother with it. I suppose another configuration of chiplets. Maybe that's been used for a Radeon Pro board. Perhaps the scaling just isn't there to get it past 4090 in a reasonable manner.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB

16GB is much better than 8GB if you are going to use it for VR. But yeah it's too expensive like everything else.

MSI GeForce RTX 4060 Ventus 2X OC

Yeah the product "stack" has been masterfully shifted up! But I suppose costs are higher all around now too.

Xbox's Phil Spencer Addresses Redfall's Substandard Launch State

Yeah you know they were fully aware that it probably should have been delayed. Though I don't know if it's as bad as the knee jerk social group think reviews make it out to be because review bombing is a thing and there are positive reviews mixed in that make it sound alright.

Sony CFO Boasts About $5 Billion Budget, Expects PS5 Hardware Sales to Top 60 Million Units

I dunno. It sounds like it's basically a new take on a VR climbing game and gets old fast. It's not much like the main Horizon games. I think there are a lot of problems with trying to make PSVR1 games work with PSVR2 hardware. It is so much different. Just look at the Move controllers and how...

Intel Releases Windows Workaround and Patch for Ethernet Stuttering and Disconnects

I have seen some disconnect issues with i218 on Win11 as well months back and disabled EEE. Chalked it up to some quirk between the switch and that particular PC. EEE is nice but yeah potential problem.

Which RTX 4090 Feature impressed you the most?

I'm most impressed by how their determination to win allows them to set almost whatever price they want. And be called efficient at extreme power consumption because it's fastest. For the most part to play some console games a little bit better.

MX500 rapid erase cycles, seems to be poor wear levelling

I have a few MX500 250GB drives at work. They were $25 one deal day. They may have slow writes that cause the occasional system hitch but for $25 I think they are uh quite awesome really compared to the hard drives that were in those PCs. I have a M4 128GB still chugging along. Every now and...
