Introduction

Corsair Logo

Founded in 1998, Corsair is a US-based peripherals and gaming equipment company. Much like the Scimitar Elite Wireless, the right-handed ergonomic Darkstar Wireless is primarily conceived for MMOs and MOBAs, but it differs from the former in many respects. While there are 15 programmable buttons in total, they are arranged differently, as the six side buttons are ordered clockwise around the thumb area, with an additional two buttons sitting next to the left main button, and two at the top for profile switching by default. In addition, the scroll wheel can be tilted horizontally, giving access to two additional binds and allowing for horizontal scrolling. For the main buttons, optical switches rated for 100 million clicks are used, which is why inadvertent double-clicking due to wear and tear is impossible. Another noteworthy feature is an included six-axis gyro and accelerometer, enabling both more fine-tuned lift-off distance adjustment as well as the implementation of tilt gestures, allowing one to execute commands upon holding the mouse at a specific angle. On the performance side of things, the Darkstar Wireless comes with Corsair's Marksman sensor capable of 26,000 CPI, and the feet are made of pure PTFE. At a weight of 98 g, the Darkstar Wireless is substantially lighter than the Scimitar Elite Wireless, though battery life is also a decent bit lower, at up to 65 hours in 2.4 GHz operation and up to 80 hours using Bluetooth without illumination. Speaking of which, the rich RGB lighting much like everything else can be configured within Corsair iCUE.
